I'm hosting Poetry Friday! This is my first time, so I'm putting this up on Thursday night in case something goes horribly awry.
| Black Stars in a White Night Sky is a poetry collection of the kind not much published today. There's no strict theme, and the poems are wildly different. Some are philosophical, some are nature-inspired, and many are silly. The unifying thread is simply that one person wrote all of them. You couldn't begin to tie this book into a curriculum (not that that's a bad thing), and I'm not quite sure how to sum it up, except to say that I'm really enjoying it, much more than I expected to at first glance. I admit I like to know what I'm getting into. In this book, you simply have to trust the poet and wade in. I'm not sorry I did. Here's one lovely poem: Autumn's Shoulder Just look at it: hard to remember, now the days have gotten colder this bare gray hill that I once loved was at one time autumn's shoulder. --JonArno Lawson, all rights reserved |  |

Eat a Duck
Eat a duck, quack-quack,
eat a duck, quack-quack,
when you're hungry and you really need a snack,
quack-quack.
When you've fizzled and you're knackered
and they're calling you a slacker,
there's nothing like a quacker on a cracker.
Quack.
